Senior Piping Designer / Drafter
JOB DESCRIPTION

Our company provides a combination of engineering consulting and services to the oil and gas industry based out of Calgary, AB. 

 

We are currently seeking an Senior Piping Designer / Drafter.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct field visits and prepare engineering drawings from preliminary concepts and specifications, P&ID's, as-built drawings, field sketches, piping plans, isometrics and piping

  • Piping design layout and piping general arrangement in a plant environment using software (MicroStation/AutoCAD)

  • Perform discipline specific piping design and drafting services

  • Ensure all drawings are and documents are checked in accordance with the company’s checking procedures

  • Develops modifications to existing techniques and procedures by using established formulas and manuals

  • Identifies cost effective solutions to design problems; communicates with other disciplines concerning specific design issues

  • Assist senior designers with verifying and checking design drawings to conform to specifications and client’s requirements and to prepare and develop documentation packages and construction drawing sets

  • Assure that work performed complies with the accuracy level and time constraints required for the project

  • Actively contribute to the development and improvement of the company’s design systems, processes, practices and procedures

  • Communicates effectively with other discipline

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of an Engineering Design and Drafting Technology program from either NAIT or SAIT

  • At least 10+ years piping design experience preferably in the Oil and Gas Industry

  • Have superior oral communication skills

  • Ability to work with engineers and other subject matter experts to develop engineering drawings with complex specifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; team oriented and creative thinker

  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment

Job is performed in an office environment and site travel may be required, depending on project.
