Atlas recognizes the critical role of conventional natural gas/coal fired power plants in providing secure and stable electricity. We provide engineering services for power generation in the areas of project management and development of conceptual design and feasibility studies.

Coal fired power plants utilize the combustion of coal in order to generate electricity. Due to the large quantity of pollutants and greenhouse gas it produces, large efforts are in place to phase out coal-fired power plants. Nevertheless, coal-fired power plants fuel 40% of electricity generated globally and constitute for 55% of the total generated electricity in Alberta.

Natural gas generates electricity through gas turbine generators or steam turbine generators. Unlike the conventional coal-fired power plants, Natural gas power plants generally emit less than 50% of the carbon dioxide produced.
